Environmental Protection Specialist

Job Description

1.Environmental Compliance and Permitting Management

• Lead the preparation, renewal, and maintenance of factory environmental permit documents, including but not limited to AMDAL, UKL-UPL, and SPPL, ensuring alignment with the factory's risk level.
• Proficiently operate Indonesia's OSS (Online Single Submission) system, responsible for the application, amendment, and annual compliance reporting of environmental approvals and business permits.
• Continuously track the latest environmental regulations issued by the Indonesian central and local governments (e.g., Ministry of Environment and Forestry), interpret compliance requirements, and translate them into internal implementation standards.

2.Three Wastes Treatment and Facility Operations & Maintenance

• Wastewater Management: Supervise the daily operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to ensure effluent quality meets Indonesian water quality standards; manage factory water abstraction permits and wastewater discharge routes.
• Air Emissions Management: Monitor the operational efficiency of air emission treatment systems (e.g., dust removal, desulfurization, and denitrification units) to ensure that pollutants such as particulate matter and VOCs are discharged within permitted limits.
• Solid Waste Management: Establish and maintain factory-wide records for solid waste classification, temporary storage, transportation, and disposal, with a focus on the full-lifecycle (cradle-to-grave) compliant handling of hazardous waste (B3 waste).

3.Environmental Risk Prevention and Emergency Response

• Organize the identification of environmental aspects and risk assessments for the factory, and formulate and implement control measures for significant environmental risk sources.
• Develop and revise the factory's environmental emergency response plan, and regularly conduct cross-departmental emergency drills to enhance the emergency response capabilities of all staff.
• In the event of an environmental emergency, immediately activate the response plan, lead on-site emergency response, accident investigation, corrective action tracking, and reporting to government authorities.

4.Environmental Monitoring, Data Systems, and Reporting

• Develop the factory's annual environmental monitoring plan, engage third-party labs or use online monitoring equipment to regularly measure water, air, noise, and solid waste, analyze data, and compile reports.
• Manage environmental records in a digital format, and timely complete monthly/quarterly/annual statistical reports and pollutant discharge permit implementation reports required by local environmental authorities.
• If export activities are involved, coordinate with the Quality Control department to ensure products meet international Restricted Substances Lists (RSL/MRSL) requirements.

5.Energy Management and Carbon Reduction (Sustainability)

• Establish energy consumption statistical models for the factory, analyze energy-saving potential, and drive the implementation of energy-saving technical improvement projects.
• Calculate the factory's annual greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventory in accordance with international or local requirements, supporting the group's carbon neutrality goals.
• Participate in or lead sustainability-related certifications such as Green Factory and Cleaner Production audits.

6.Training and Internal/External Communication

• Regularly organize environmental regulatory and operational skills training for local Indonesian employees to enhance frontline staff's environmental awareness and compliance performance.
• Serve as the point of contact, properly address environmental inquiries or complaints from surrounding communities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to uphold the company's environmental reputation.
• Cooperate with headquarters and third-party auditors to complete annual internal and external audits of the EHS management system (e.g., ISO 14001).

7.Special Responsibilities during New Construction / Renovation & Expansion Projects

• Participate in the environmental impact assessment for new projects, implement the Three Simultaneities principle (environmental protection facilities must be designed, constructed, and commissioned simultaneously with the main project).
• Coordinate and prepare documentation for the environmental protection acceptance inspection upon project completion.

Job Qualifications

1.Education Background

• Bachelor's degree or above (full-time) in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

2.Work Experience

• At least 3 years of environmental management experience in manufacturing industries; preference for candidates with backgrounds in metallurgy, chemicals, pulp & paper, power generation, or large-scale manufacturing.
• Practical environmental management experience in an Indonesian local factory and familiarity with local environmental inspection procedures are preferred.
• Experience with Three Simultaneities for new factory construction or renovation/expansion projects is preferred.

3.Professional Skills and Certifications

• Thorough knowledge of the Indonesian environmental regulatory system, particularly PP No. 5/2021 and its derivative regulations, with the ability to independently interpret regulations and formulate corporate strategies.
• Familiar with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System; holding an internal auditor certificate is preferred.
• Strong data analysis skills, proficient in using office software for environmental data statistics and analysis.
• Mandatory certification in Ahli K3 Muda Lingkungan Kerja (Junior Occupational Safety and Health Expert for Work Environment) and Limbah B3 Management/Handling (Hazardous Waste Management/Handling).

4.Language and Soft Skills

• Language: Fluent Chinese and English (both written and spoken) as working languages; basic Bahasa Indonesia communication skills are preferred (to interface with government agencies and local staff).
• Soft Skills: Excellent cross-cultural communication, on-site problem-solving abilities, and strong resilience under pressure; principled and able to balance compliance with production efficiency.
