Job Description

Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and governing all engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from concept development and feasibility studies through detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and project handover. The role ensures engineering deliverables are technically sound, aligned with project objectives, and compliant with applicable standards, while providing leadership and coordination between internal stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all engineering activities for process plant, TSF, non-process infrastructure, utilities, and supporting facilities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish engineering execution strategies, design criteria, technical standards, and engineering governance processes to ensure consistency and compliance across all project packages.
  • Manage and coordinate external engineering consultants, EPC contractors, and specialist engineering service providers to ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements, budget, and schedule commitments.
  • Review and approve engineering studies, design packages, technical specifications, calculations, drawings, and engineering deliverables prior to construction execution.
  • Collaborate with Project Support Managers, Construction Managers, Planning, Procurement, QA/QC, and Operations teams to ensure engineering solutions are practical, constructible, and aligned with operational requirements.
  • Lead technical risk assessments, value engineering initiatives, design optimization efforts, and engineering change management processes to improve project performance and reduce execution risks.
  • Monitor engineering progress and provide regular reporting to the Project Director on engineering status, key technical issues, design risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company standards, industry best practices, and engineering quality assurance requirements throughout project development and execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Process, Mining, Metallurgical, or related discipline); Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Min 10 years of experience in engineering, project engineering, design management, or project delivery within mining, mineral processing, smelter, infrastructure, EPC, or industrial projects.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing engineering consultants through feasibility, detailed design, construction support, and commissioning phases.
  • Strong understanding of engineering management, project development, design review processes, constructability assessment, and technical governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering interfaces across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, process, geotechnical, and infrastructure disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of project execution methodologies, engineering standards, technical risk management, and change management processes.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence technical and project decisions at senior management level.
  • Experience in mining, gold processing, heap leach facilities, TSF, industrial plants, smelters, or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
