Job Description

Job Summary

The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of ship repair projects to ensure timely and quality completion. This role assists in preparing repair specifications, evaluating technical requirements, monitoring work progress, and coordinating with production teams, vendors, and clients. The Project Engineer also ensures compliance with safety, quality, and classification standards while helping to resolve technical issues during repair activities.

Key Responsibilities

Tasks :

  • Prepare detailed work plans, including man-hour and resource planning.
  • Monitor daily progress and ensure alignment with key milestones.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (design, production, QA/QC, procurement).
  • Liaise with owners, classification societies, and relevant authorities.
  • Review and approve construction drawings, test procedures, and method statements.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and workmanship meet standards.
  • Organize and lead coordination meetings, preparing progress reports as required.
  • Ensure timely procurement and material availability in line with the construction schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in monitoring daily progress and ensuring timely execution of assigned work scopes.
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and production teams to resolve technical issues on site.
  • Review construction drawings, technical specifications, and ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Supervise subcontractor work and verify it aligns with project requirements and quality standards.
  • Support in preparing and updating progress reports, inspection records, and punch lists.
  • Liaise with classification societies and owners representatives during inspections and testing.
  • Ensure proper implementation of safety and environmental procedures at the work site.
  • Participate in commissioning, sea trials, and ensure the completion of documentation for handover.

Key Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Naval Arch. or Marine Engineering or Equivalent.Minimum 5 years experience in project management in ship repair or newbuilding or conversion
  • Good spoken & written English and knowledge on Bahasa Indonesia/Malay is preferable.
  • Computer literate in word, excel, project & Auto Cad.
  • Sound knowledge of technical terminology particularly that used in a marine environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills & leadership skill.
  • Working experience in costing, budget, work break down structure, planning, forecasting, scheduling, progress management, reporting, etc.
