ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Electrical Design Engineer with strong experience in end-to-end electrical design for data center facilities. This role is highly design-focused, covering the full electrical lifecycle from concept design through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning. The successful candidate will take direct ownership of electrical design deliverables and ensure compliance with data center standards and reliability requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience).
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in electrical design for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
- Proven hands-on experience in data center electrical design, not limited to coordination or review roles.
- Strong knowledge of UPS systems, redundancy concepts, and critical power distribution.
- Solid understanding of data center standards and international electrical codes.
- Experience working in design-build, EPC, or fast-track project environments.
- Comfortable working as an individual contributor with design ownership.
Prefered Requirements:
- Experience in Tier II–IV data center projects.
- Exposure to hyperscale or enterprise data centers.
- Professional certifications (e.g. Uptime ATD/ATS, PE) are an advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead end-to-end electrical design for data center projects, from concept, schematic, detailed design, to IFC drawings.
- Perform electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, and power capacity planning for IT and non-IT loads.
- Design and specify UPS systems, including UPS capacity calculation, battery sizing, and redundancy topology (N, N+1, 2N).
- Develop and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and electrical layouts for mission-critical facilities.
- Design power distribution systems, including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, PDUs, ATS/STS, grounding, and protection systems.
- Apply data center standards and electrical codes, including Uptime Institute, TIA, IEC, NFPA, and NEC.
- Coordinate with mechanical, architectural, structural, and IT teams to ensure integrated design.
- Provide technical support during construction, testing, and commissioning, including site inspections and system validation.
- Review and respond to vendor technical submittals and design deviations.
- Communicate design intent, technical risks, and reliability considerations to stakeholders and clients.
