Job Description

A Drilling & Workover Contract Engineer in the oil and gas industry manages commercial, legal, and technical procurement processes. They bridge drilling operations and supply chain management by preparing tenders, evaluating vendor bids, and administering service contracts for rigs, well completions, and workover interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tender & Procurement Management: Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, and invitation-to-bid (ITB) packages for drilling, completion, and workover services.
  • Bid Evaluation: Conduct technical and techno-commercial evaluations of contractor proposals and draft formal award recommendations.
  • Contract Administration: Negotiate contract terms, manage service variations, handle claim resolutions, and monitor vendor key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Operational Coordination: Collaborate with drilling and completion engineers to ensure rig equipment and third-party services match operational timelines and budgets.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure compliance with local industry standards, company policies, and regional regulatory frameworks (such as SKK Migas guidelines in Indonesia).

Key Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or Law.
  • Experience: 4 to 8+ years in the oil and gas sector, with specific hands-on experience handling drilling/workover contracts or supply chain tenders.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with drilling rigs, well intervention, stimulation fluids, and oilfield equipment.
  • Commercial Skills: Strong understanding of risk allocation, cost estimation, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution.
