About the Client

Our client is a high-growth medical enterprise serving major US clients across the dental and broader

healthcare ecosystem. The company operates a vertically integrated, subscription-led procurement and

supply-chain platform spanning dental, veterinary, lab, and adjacent medical categories. The business is

revenue positive and is scaling into a broader healthcare enterprise platform.

The Role

This is a hands-on engineering leadership role for a Founding Engineer / VP Engineering-type profile.

You will lead a 10–15 member engineering team while owning system design, software architecture,

delivery execution, and people leadership. Architecture and execution are the primary evaluation areas;

this is not a management-only role.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead a 10–15 member engineering team, with responsibility for hiring, coaching, performance, team

development, and delivery.

● Own system design and software architecture for scalable, data-heavy, distributed and cloud-native

platforms; lead architecture reviews and key technical decisions.

● Stay hands-on enough to challenge designs, review critical technical decisions, guide implementation,

and unblock engineering teams while driving predictable execution.

● Scale the engineering platform and organization sustainably—improving reliability, observability, code

quality, testing, CI/CD, release processes, and technical debt.

● Drive AI transformation across the SDLC using Applied AI for code generation, testing, developer

productivity, workflow automation, evaluation, and engineering-process improvement.

● Evaluate new technologies and establish pragmatic engineering standards, development

methodologies, and best practices as the company scales.

● Partner closely with Product, Data, and Operations to evolve the business from a scale-up into a

broader medical/dental enterprise ecosystem.

What We're Looking For

● 12–15+ years of software engineering experience preferred; 10+ years is the bare minimum for

exceptional candidates with strong architecture and leadership depth.

● Strong product-company background, ideally in data-heavy Series A, B, or C startups or bootstrapped

scale-ups; Founding Engineer, early engineering leader, or VP Engineering-type experience is highly

relevant.

● Deep expertise in SYSTEM DESIGN and SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE, combined with people

management and hands-on technical leadership—not a management-only profile.

● Proven experience scaling an engineering team from single digits to at least 10–15 people;

experience building or leading a 30+ person engineering organization is strongly preferred.

● Track record of scaling products through significant revenue growth; ideally part of a profitable $10M

→ $100M ARR journey with sustainable engineering practices.

● Strong backend/architecture experience with Python, Node.js, and/or Go, plus Kafka, RabbitMQ,

Terraform, and modern cloud-Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, event-driven architecture,

data design, service boundaries, scalability, reliability, and observability.

● Practical Applied AI experience, especially AI-led SDLC transformation across code generation,

testing, automation, developer workflows, evaluation/observability, and production reliability. Model

fine-tuning is a plus.

● Strong delivery execution, stakeholder management, agile development practices, communication,

and ability to build high-performing teams in fast-growth environments.

● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or

equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

● Domain exposure to dental, healthcare, medical supply chain, procurement, veterinary, lab platforms,

marketplaces, or other data-heavy enterprise products.

● Experience serving major US customers and scaling a lean startup/scale-up into a mature enterprise

platform ecosystem.
