Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the hotel, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance. This role ensures that the hotel's financial health is maintained, provides strategic financial advice to the management team, and ensures that all financial practices are in line with corporate policies and legal regulations. The Director of Finance plays a key role in driving the financial performance of the hotel, supporting the achievement of business goals, and optimizing profitability.

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes and ensure compliance with SOPs; make sure appropriate corrections are made
  • Reconcile balance sheet and ensure account balances are supported by appropriate supporting documentation in accordance with SOPs.
  • Ensure all issues in the balance sheet are disclosed and adjustments are timely
  • Ensure that the P&L is accurate, and statements are delivered to appropriate individuals in a timely manner.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead and facilitate the achievement of property annual goals and targets to ensure profitability and revenue growth.
  • Create the annual operating budget for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for property managers.
  • Analyse financial data and market trends and produce accurate forecasts that enable operations to react to changes in the business; facilitate critique meetings to review information with the management team. Provide corporate recipients with forecast information in a timely manner.

Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage working capital, cash flow, capital and overall expenses to obtain the highest value.
  • Effectively manage property working capital and cash flow; identify key projects and manage associated capital expenditure funds for product improvement and increased revenue potential

Internal Controls & Risk Management:

  • Identify risk exposure and effectively manage financial risk ensuring effective systems of controls are in place.
  • Put in place appropriate controls to manage business and financial risks. Ensure a strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability. Ensure compliance with standard and local operating procedures, and local regulations.
  • Leverage technology and effectively use information systems and tools to create operational efficiency and generate information to support decision-making.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Effectively lead the execution of finance and accounting responsibilities for the property including the preparation of the annual business plan and operating budget, forecasting, internal controls, financial analysis, cash management, balance sheet reconciliation, financial reporting, P&L accuracy, capital expenditure budget, etc. Responsible for legal entities relating to Aryaduta Hotel Group
  • Set goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance assessment process and hold staff accountable for successful performance; coach the team by providing specific feedback to improve performance. Create appropriate developmental plans and develop team members based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations, and abilities.
  • Deliver against balanced scorecard and discipline initiatives to build brand equity and customer allegiance
  • Create a working environment where team members perform at their best, encouraging managers to set challenging objectives & take risks, differentiating top performers, and fostering teamwork.
  • Help enhance the team's business skills. Educate department heads on sales and profit maximization and cost control; provide ongoing analytical decision support & tools to ensure revenue goals are met and opportunities are identified and addressed.
  • Ensure that all contracts are up to date and that there is a reminder system in place for renewal and renegotiation if necessary.
  • Build effective working relationships with the rest of the property management team, regional and corporate groups, external customers, partners and auditors. Effectively leverage resources outside of their own area.
  • Hire, retain, and continually develop diverse, high-calibre talent that makes a strong positive impact on the organization.
  • Manage through people and reliable systems & processes and assign team members and other department managers clear accountability backed by appropriate authority to accomplish goals.
  • Effectively manage communication with owners. Regular dialogue and presentations to owner's representatives on actual and forecasted financial results. Development and presentation of business cases.
  • Ensure Team members participate in the department's orientation program and receive the appropriate training to successfully perform their job. Ensure team members are cross trained to support successful daily operations.
  • Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and the entire Finance team.
  • Celebrate successes and publicly recognize the contributions of team members.

Financial Analysis & Decision Support:

  • Function as a strategic business partner to the GM and the Executive Committee. Leverage strong financial expertise and business acumen to influence the strategic direction of the operation, identify opportunities for growth, optimize allocation of financial resources, and drive business results. Advise the GM and the executive committee on existing and evolving business/financial issues and protect and strengthen Aryaduta competitive advantage by supporting sound business and financial decision making.
  • Use financial analysis and market information to anticipate needs, identify business/financial issues, and recommend actions to maximize financial return. Identify opportunities to create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation and driving necessary change through calculated risk taking.

Others:

  • Achieve the monthly and annual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) assigned, which will be outlined separately. KPIs may include, but are not limited to, targets related to productivity, quality, efficiency, compliance, and contributions to team or departmental objectives.
  • Accept temporary or permanent transfers to another section, department, or Aryaduta property, as required by business needs and performance considerations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superior, which are relevant to the role and support departmental or organizational objectives.

DNA:

  • Educational & Professional Credentials – bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Hospitality Finance Experience – Minimum 5–7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years in a senior finance role within a 4- or 5-star international hotel or resort.
  • Comprehensive Financial Expertise – Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and compliance, with proven ability to implement best practices in hotel finance.
  • Leadership & Business Partnering – Demonstrated capability to lead and develop finance teams, collaborate effectively with operational leaders, and influence strategic decision-making.
  • System & Technology Proficiency – Advanced knowledge of hotel financial systems (e.g., SunSystems, SAP, Oracle), Property Management Systems (PMS), and strong MS Excel and financial analysis skills.
