The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for developing and owning The Jakarta Post's original multimedia A.V programming across owned channels. This role treats content as episodic, seasonal programming rather than isolated posts.
The position owns quarterly content themes, series concepts, and production direction, ensuring narrative consistency, creative clarity, and production quality across platforms. This role operates as an independent content unit and works cross-functionally when needed, while maintaining clear creative ownership.
Key Responsibilities
A. Content Strategy & Series Programming
- Translate quarterly content themes and strategic direction from Audience Development into structured multimedia series and content cohorts.
- Develop executable concepts, formats, and narrative structures based on agreed strategic direction, while contributing creative ideas to enhance execution quality.
- Define and document format guidelines (tone, pacing, visual language) to ensure consistency across series and platforms.
- Own the creative execution and day-to-day direction of multimedia programming across platforms, ensuring alignment with the approved content vision.
B. Production Oversight & Execution Management
- Oversee production of short-form and long-form multimedia content across platforms, including video, audio, and emerging formats (e.g. social video, YouTube, podcast, and other distribution channels).
- Manage end-to-end production planning, timelines, and delivery.
- Recruit, brief, and manage external execution teams (freelancers or vendors) on a quarterly basis.
- Ensure production quality, efficiency, and adherence to creative direction without hands-on editing.
C. Content Planning & Distribution Alignment
- Own the internal multimedia content calendar and series rollout schedule with Social Media Campaign.
- Align content programming with audience and brand objectives.
- Ensure distribution strategy supports series continuity and audience retention.
D. Commercial & Special Content Support
- Execute approved briefs for branded, campaign, or advertising-related multimedia content on an occasional basis.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure branded content fits established formats and quality standards.
- Maintain a clear separation between original programming and commercial support work.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with Audience, Marketing, and Sales teams when content overlaps with campaigns or commercial initiatives.
- Maintain independence of content programming while aligning on shared goals.
- Resolve issues at team level before escalation to the Head of Audience Development.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Digital Media Specialist or in related roles within end-to-end content production. Candidate with experience in Media company will be prioritized.
- Has a Bachelor Degree in Multimedia, Broadcasting, Digital Marketing, or related subjects.
- Familiarity with video editing software/tools and project management platforms is preferred.
- Has a strong verbal and written communication skills, familiar working with a wide range of stakeholder.
