Description
In Geonet Group, the Design Manager will oversee the day to day design management of one of our hospitality development projects. The role involves managing design coordination with key external consultants and monitoring schedule and budgets with the appointed external project manager. The role is to ensure that the project is managed in terms of schedule, design, brand, construction and budget with constant review with the HOD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review updated designs by all consultants and compile all BOD's comments and reply to consultants within a timely manner as to not delay project schedule
- Use techincal expertise and experience to review design details and evaluate proposed materials, constructability, maintenance, etc.
- Assist the PMO Team in coordination of all consultants and review design submissions to ensure all disciplines are well coordinated
- Schedule regular design reviews with HOD as needed to complie comments
- Manage the day to day progress of the mock-up room construction and report weekly to HOD
- Attend the local consultant design review/coordination meetings
- Attend CTM weekly meeting with HOD and contribute to meeting where appropriate, i.e ask questions, challenge consultants on design methods, buildability, operational challenges, long term maintenance aspects etc. i.e all design related aspects that have a long term impact on the asset rather than purely design related
- Communicate with potential vendors on products that could be beneficial to the project and invite them for presentation with HOD if initial review is viable
- Engage appropriate stakeholders in consultation with HOD to keep them informed of progress of design and incorporate any comments/feedback into general design direction.
- Work closely alongside the PMO Team to review overall construction budget to ensure the project is tracking to budget expectations.
- Consider overall designs and ascertain if there are Value Engineering (VE) opportunities whether required by budget and/or design improvements through design optimization, equipment & material specifications and weigh up the cost benefits of proposed VE proposals and present these VE proposals to the HOD for review
- Schedule regular one-one meetings with HOD as required and report any issues that HOD may not be aware of
- Communicate with other internal departments as required to ensure that the Development team supports in a timely and professional manner and in the best interests of the company
- Keep the HOD informed of any internal discussions that may impact the reputation of the department and external parties contributing to the development of the project
Qualifications:
- Architectural or Engineering degree or diploma
- 5-10 years design experience, in design, construction, project management of hospitality buildings
- Proficient in Bahassa Indonessia and English
- A self-starter who is a committed team player with flexible interpersonal style; effective communication and project management skills; good influencing skills
- Strong knowledge of architectural, design, and construction principles and understanding of applicable regulations
- Knowledge of all aspects of hospitality design and preferably operations is a plus
- Possess strong sense of urgency to drive project completion, must have a proactive nature
- Ability to work independently, with minimal oversight and a team player who collaborates well with others
- Strong level of personal and professional integrity
