Position Summary
The DCS Operator – Fiberline is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and optimizing Fiberline process operations through the Distributed Control System (DCS) to ensure safe, stable, and efficient pulp production while meeting quality, production, and environmental targets. The role works closely with Field Operators, Shift Supervisors, and Maintenance teams to maintain process reliability and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control Fiberline process parameters through DCS, including flow, pressure, temperature, level, consistency, and chemical dosage.
- Operate and optimize Fiberline areas such as cooking, washing, screening, oxygen delignification, bleaching, and pulp handling.
- Coordinate with Field Operators during start-up, shutdown, grade changes, and troubleshooting activities.
- Monitor process trends, alarms, and interlocks to identify abnormalities and take corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure all process operations comply with safety, quality, environmental, and operational standards.
- Analyze process data and recommend operational adjustments to improve productivity, pulp quality, chemical consumption, and overall process efficiency.
- Report process deviations, equipment malfunctions, and operational issues to Shift Supervisors and relevant departments.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams to resolve process and equipment-related issues.
- Prepare and maintain operational logs, shift reports, and production records accurately.
- Participate in plant commissioning, process improvement initiatives, shutdown activities, and continuous improvement programs.
- Follow all approved operating procedures, emergency response procedures, and company safety regulations.
Requirements
- Diploma Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a DCS Operator, Process Operator, or Control Room Operator in a Pulp & Paper mill, preferably within Fiberline operations.
- Strong understanding of Fiberline processes including Cooking, Washing, Screening, Oxygen Delignification, and Bleaching.
- Familiarity with DCS platforms such as ABB, Valmet DNA, Honeywell, Yokogawa, or Emerson DeltaV.
- Ability to interpret process trends, P&ID drawings, operating procedures, and process control logic.
- Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing to work in shifts.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken, is an advantage.
