Role OverviewThe development of reliable applications and systems must be supported by a robust and secure infrastructure, with database infrastructure being a critical component. As a Database Engineer, you will be responsible for managing database systems from an infrastructure and security perspective. This role involves supporting the installation, configuration, optimization, and deployment of database servers to ensure system reliability, performance, and data integrity.Responsibilities
- Installation, configuration, and maintenance of MySQL/Percona/MariaDB databases.
- Database performance monitoring (CPU, memory, disk, IOPS, connections, query latency).
- Analysis and optimization of slow queries, indexing, SPs, and database structures.
- Database backup and restore management (logical and physical) and periodic recovery testing.
- Implementation and maintenance of replication/high availability (Master-Slave, Galera/PXC).
- Layer 2/Layer 3 database incident handling (performance drops, replication lag, corruption).
- Database security implementation: user and privilege management, audit logs, secure access.
- Support for Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and information security audit requirements.
- Documentation of SOPs, runbooks, and regular database health reports.
- Collaboration with Developers, SysOps, DevOps, and IT Security regarding application requirements.
Requirement
- Bachelor's degree (S1/D3) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
- 34 years of hands-on experience managing MySQL databases in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of MySQL (InnoDB, indexing, transactions, locking).
- Experience with database backup, restore, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Linux command line (Red Hatbased).
- Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of networking and system security.
- Familiar with automation (Shell Script/Ansible) and cloud databases (AWS RDS or Cloud SQL) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ownership mindset, and effective cross-team communication.
