We're looking for a Lead Data Engineer to design, build, and scale robust data platforms on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You'll lead a team of engineers, define data architecture standards, and ensure reliable, high-performance data pipelines that support analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Design:
- Lead the design of scalable data architectures using AWS services such as Amazon S3, Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue, and Amazon Athena.
- Define data modeling standards (batch and real-time)
Data Engineering & Pipelines:
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Lambda and Amazon Kinesis
- Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance optimization
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers
- Conduct code reviews, enforce best practices, and guide technical decisions
Collaboration:
- Work with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver data solutions
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Governance & Security:
- Implement data governance, security, and compliance frameworks using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Ensure proper data access controls and auditing
Performance & Cost Optimization:
- Optimize AWS infrastructure for cost-efficiency and scalability
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in data engineering, with 2+ years in a leadership role
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS ecosystem (S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, Athena)
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark)
- Experience with data warehousing, data lakes, and modern ETL/ELT practices
- Solid understanding of data modeling (star/snowflake schemas)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Experience with real-time data streaming architectures
