Job Description

JOB PURPOSE
The Critical Facility Manager (CFM) is accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all critical infrastructure at an assigned data center site, ensuring 100% uptime in line with client SLAs and CBRE operating standards. The CFM leads the on-site engineering and technician team, owns the site's maintenance and compliance programs, and acts as the primary operational point of contact for the client at the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own overall accountability for critical facility uptime, safety, and compliance across electrical, mechanical, and fire/life-safety systems.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the on-site team of Shift Leads, Shift Technicians, and Day Technicians, including scheduling, performance management, and development.
  • Direct the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) program in coordination with the CMMS Planner, ensuring maintenance windows meet client MOP/SOP standards.
  • Own Method of Procedure (MOP), Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) governance for the site, including periodic review and update.
  • Manage incident response and root cause analysis (RCA) for any critical event, producing client-facing incident reports within agreed timelines.
  • Act as the primary operational escalation point for the client, attending governance meetings and reporting on site performance, risk, and capacity.
  • Oversee vendor and subcontractor performance for specialist critical systems (UPS, generators, cooling, BMS/EPMS, fire suppression).
  • Manage the site operating budget, including OPEX tracking, spares inventory, and vendor contract performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with EHS standards, permit-to-work protocols, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including energy efficiency, PUE optimization, and operational risk reduction.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent technical experience).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in critical facility, data center, or mission-critical environment operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UPS systems, standby generators, precision cooling, switchgear, BMS/EPMS, and fire suppression systems.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams in a 24/7 shift environment.
  • Experience with hyperscale or colocation data center operations preferred.
  • Strong incident management, RCA, and client communication skills.
  • CDCP, CDFOS or any relevant certification is preferred
