Role Description
Data Architecture & Modelling Role is responsible for designing, governing, and evolving the organization's enterprise data architecture and data models to ensure data is trusted, compliant, structured (standardized), interoperable (integrated), and fit for business and analytical & AI use. This role plays a critical part in embedding data governance principlesincluding data quality, lineage, metadata, standards, and ownershipinto the core data architecture across operational, analytical, and cloud platforms. The role partners closely with Data Engineering, Analytics, Data Security & Privacy, and Business stakeholders to ensure data assets are consistently defined, well-structured, and compliant with regulatory and organizational policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Define data architecture & data modelling standards aligned with data governance framework.
- Define data classification and data domains.
- Collaborate with data owners and data stewards to identify critical data elements (CDE), assigned data classifcation & domain and define business/technical relationships..
- Collaborate with data owner and data stewards to define entities, attributes, relationships, keys, constraints, hierarchies and other critical information used for data modelling.
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with data architecture & modelling standards.
- Ensure data models design support data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and traceability.
- Collaborate with data engineers and technology teams to ensure data architecture & modelling standards are implemented.
- Collaborate with data engineer, business (data owners & data steward) and technology (IT) to capture data flow, integration, and system landscape diagrams across operational (application systems) and data analytical platforms.
- Ensure data architecture and data models are documented, version-controlled, and compliant with governance standards.
- Review data architecture and modelling solution designs to ensure alignment with data governance policies, regulatory compliance, and meeting privacy & security requirements.
- Design and maintain metadata inventory to improve discoverability: business glossaries, data catalogues and data lineage. Integrate metadata inventory into metadata management tools (ex. GCP DataPlex).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Architecture, Data Engineering or related fields.
- 5+ years in data architecture or enterprise data modelling design.
- Strong experience with data platforms, integration patterns, and data modelling.
- Knowledge of governance, privacy, and security architecture
- Ability to influence architecture decisions without direct authority
- Knowledge of data modelling design with canonical data model (CDM) and SID TMForum Framework.
- Strong understanding on Data Modelling design process for logical and physical data model.
- Proven experience with data modelling tools (e.g ER & UML).
- Proven experience with physical data design and advanced SQL in BigQuery database.
- Ability to capture business process, data flow diagram and system/data architecture landscape.
- Knowledge of metadata, data lineage, and data governance tools.
- Knowledge of data integration and ETL/ELT
