About the Role

Our client, a leading global technology company, is seeking an experienced Customs Clearance Manager to lead customs compliance, audit management, and regulatory strategy for its Indonesia operations. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with Indonesian customs regulations and international trade practices, while acting as the company's primary point of authority and liaison with customs and government bodies.

Job Description

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end customs audit process, including preparation, response, and resolution of customs objections and appeals with Indonesian customs authorities.
  • Provide expert guidance on HS classification, customs valuation, and import/export procedures, ensuring alignment with WTO and WCO frameworks.
  • Serve as the company's signing authority for customs-related documentation and act as the primary liaison with Bea Cukai (DJBC) and other relevant government bodies.
  • Monitor and interpret updates to Indonesian customs regulations and international trade policy, assessing business impact and driving internal compliance updates accordingly.
  • Partner cross-functionally with logistics, finance, and legal teams to manage customs-related risk and support smooth import/export operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records to support audit readiness and regulatory reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customs officials and relevant regulatory bodies to support timely, compliant clearance operations.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on customs-related matters, including training as needed.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of WTO and WCO regulations, Indonesian customs regulations, and international trade practices.
  • Proven, hands-on experience leading customs audits, including managing objections, appeals, and disputes with customs authorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Law, International Trade, Business Administration, or related) preferred.
  • Relevant certification issued by Indonesia's Ministry of Finance related to customs classification (e.g., PPJK / Ahli Kepabeanan, or equivalent) is a strong plus.
