Reporting To

Regional Managing Director / APAC Leadership Team

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Country Head to lead and expand our Indonesia business operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall strategic direction, business performance, sales growth, operational excellence, and profitability of the country organization.

This role requires a strong blend of business leadership and technical expertise, with a proven track record in industrial machinery, capital equipment, automation, manufacturing technology, or related engineering industries. The Country Head will lead cross-functional teams, drive market expansion, strengthen customer relationships, and ensure sustainable growth while maintaining high standards of operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute the country business strategy aligned with regional and global objectives.
  • Identify market opportunities, industry trends, and competitive dynamics to drive sustainable business growth.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, industry stakeholders, and government agencies.
  • Lead organizational development initiatives to strengthen the company's market position in Indonesia.

P&L Management

  • Assume full ownership and accountability for country P&L performance.
  • Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic business plans.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions to achieve revenue, profitability, and cash flow targets.
  • Optimize operational efficiency and resource allocation to maximize business returns.

Sales & Business Development

  • Lead the commercial organization to achieve ambitious sales and market share objectives.
  • Drive business development activities across key industries and customer segments.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic accounts.
  • Oversee contract negotiations and major commercial agreements.
  • Ensure a robust sales pipeline and effective execution of sales strategies.

Team Leadership & Organizational Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing local management team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure organizational structures support current and future business growth.

Technical & Engineering Leadership

  • Provide leadership and guidance on technical solutions and engineering-related matters.
  • Work closely with engineering, project, and service teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Support the development of technically sound and commercially competitive solutions.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in engineering and operational practices.

Operations & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, corporate policies, and ethical business standards.
  • Oversee operational excellence across sales, service, engineering, and administrative functions.
  • Manage business risks and implement appropriate governance frameworks.
  • Drive health, safety, and environmental standards throughout the organization.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Automation, or related disciplines).
  • MBA or advanced business qualification is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience within machinery, industrial equipment, automation, manufacturing technology, or related sectors.
  • Proven experience managing a country operation, business unit, or large-scale commercial organization.
  • Demonstrated success in P&L ownership and delivering sustainable business growth.
  • Strong background in sales leadership, business development, and strategic account management.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams including sales, service, engineering, and operations.
