Your future role
The Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and reporting manufacturing and project costs to ensure financial performance aligns with approved budgets and profitability targets. The role partners with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Production, Project Management, and Finance to provide timely cost analysis, forecasting, variance reporting, and commercial insights that support informed business decisions and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control project and manufacturing costs against approved budgets and forecasts.
- Track material, labour, overhead, subcontract, and logistics costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform cost variance analysis and recommend corrective actions to mitigate cost overruns.
- Prepare cost reports, forecasts, cash flow projections, and management dashboards.
- Calculate, monitor, and report Gross Margin and EBITDA Margin, ensuring projects and quotations meet the company's profitability targets.
- Support monthly financial closing, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, cost control procedures, and reporting standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve cost visibility, operational performance, and financial outcomes.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in cost control, project controls, or manufacturing finance within heavy fabrication, mining equipment manufacturing, EPC, or a similar industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing cost structures, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and business intelligence tools.
- Strong analytical, commercial, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Success Measures
- Accurate and timely cost reporting and forecasting.
- Effective control of project and manufacturing costs within approved budgets.
- Achievement of target Gross Margin and EBITDA Margin.
- High forecast accuracy and proactive identification of financial risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
