Background
Save the Children is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental alliance of 30-member organizations that works in 120 countries throughout the world. Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since 1976 to promote health and nutrition, education, child protection, livelihoods, and emergency preparedness and response. Our ambition for children will focus on inspiring three specific breakthroughs for children by 2030: SURVIVE; No child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday, LEARN; all children learn from a quality basic education, and BE PROTECTED; violence against children is no longer tolerated.
Starting from August 2025, Save the Children Indonesia (SCIDN) has been conducting school interventions under the Green Generation Initiative. The objective of this project is to create a school model that minimizes environmental footprints and nurtures environmentally conscious leaders, which can be replicated across other educational institutions to inspire broader impact.
The Project Was Conducted In SMPN 1 Cikarang Pusat, Kabupaten Bekasi, From August 2025 To February 2026, With 3 Main Activities
- Hardware Upgrade for Energy Efficiency & Upgrade or Provision Waste Management tools, involved upgrading small hardware elements, such as implementing energy-efficient electricity, natural ventilation, installing Bin Waste Separation, and composting
- Enhance School Environmental Performance, through Green Building measures & Cerdas Pilah Plastik practices, such as 3R practices, vertical gardening, school gardening, and landscaping.
- Awareness and Practices, utilizing various interactive media, including dialogues, game boards, campaigns, and others
After 6 Months Of Implementation, Endline Findings Suggested The Need For Further Assistance To Target Behavioural Change And Support The School In Achieving The Green School (Adiwiyata) Predicate. Thus, The Extension Phase Of The Green Generation Initiative Will Be Conducted From April To September 2026. The Extension Phase Will Focus On
- Expanding the intervention beyond the school environment to include the surrounding community;
- Promoting a safe and supportive environment that encourages active participation and leadership.
Objectives
The Objectives Of This Activity Are
- Support Program Coordinator in implementing all activities of the Green Generation Initiative Program in the targeted area (Kabupaten Bekasi). Involved in developing the project workplan, working closely with the partners in the targeted school and community, such as children, youth, the School Management, the local community, and the Youth/Children Forum.
- To organize, mobilize, and facilitate training, workshop, or other events involving those partners; also coordinate with the local government authorities, potentially collaborate with other organizations or institutions, and the project implementing partner.
- Report directly to the Program Coordinator and closely coordinate with other project teams in the Greater Jakarta area, as well as with support function teams, such as finance, administration, and supply chain teams.
Scope of Work
Specific Responsibilities Include
- In coordination with the Project Coordinator, Sr.Program Manager, and Implementing Partners, ensure that project activities are implemented according to the agreed detailed implementation plan.
- In cooperation with the Project Coordinator and Sr.Program Manager, maintain effective relationships with government and non-government stakeholders.
- Regularly collect data according to the project monitoring and evaluation plan.
- In collaboration with the Project Coordinator and Sr. Program Manager, ensure that the child safeguarding policy is understood and implemented by all stakeholders.
- Develop a monthly basis report and send it to the Project Coordinator and Sr. Program Manager.
- Conduct regular visits to program implementation areas, gather learning and feedback to inform discourse and plans for the project, the local government, and related stakeholders.
Deliverables
- Activity report, which may include, but is not limited to, activity TORs, delivery of training, campaign, workshop, FGDs, and stakeholder meetings, meeting notes, during the period of the contract.
- PowerPoint Monthly report.
Required Background And Experience, Skills, And Behaviours
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline, including social science, environment, natural resources management/sustainability.
- Experience in both the private and non-profit sector on circular economy principles and their application across Indonesia will be an advantage.
- Experience of working in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
- Recommended a minimum of 3 years experience in a program related to facilitating children or students.
- Experience working with an international NGO or similar organization.
- Ability to analyse information, evaluate options, and to think and plan strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken Indonesian, strong English written and spoken skills.
- Commitment to and understanding of Yayasan Save the Children Indonesia's aims, values, and principles, including rights-based approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English.
