Robert Walters is partnering with a leading global professional services organisation to appoint a Commercial Director Data Centres for its Indonesia business. This is a senior leadership role within a rapidly expanding digital infrastructure platform, supporting hyperscale, colocation, and investor clients across complex data centre developments.
The Opportunity

With a strong international footprint and deep technical expertise, the organisation provides end-to-end services from strategic advisory through to project execution.
As Commercial Director Data Centres, you will take ownership of the commercial strategy and financial performance of the data centre sector in Indonesia. Reporting to the Country Director, this role combines market leadership, business development, and senior oversight of major projects, while driving sustainable revenue growth and profitability across multiple service lines.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy & Business Growth
- Define and execute the commercial strategy for the data centre sector in Indonesia.
- Lead business development activities and secure new mandates across project management, cost & commercial management, and principal delivery services.
- Identify and pursue opportunities with hyperscale operators, colocation providers, and data centre investors.
- Drive revenue growth, margin performance, and long-term client relationships.
P&L Ownership & Performance Management
- Take full accountability for annual revenue, margin, and profitability targets for the data centre business.
- Monitor financial performance at both project and portfolio level, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Support commercial governance, risk management, and contract performance.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams of project and cost management professionals.
- Provide clear commercial direction and coaching to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Foster a collaborative and performance-driven culture aligned with organisational values.
Client & Project Oversight
- Provide senior-level oversight of data centre projects to ensure commercial, programme, and quality objectives are met.
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Regional Collaboration
- Collaborate with regional data centre leadership to align commercial strategy, delivery standards, and best practices.
- Support cross-border pursuits and project delivery by leveraging global expertise.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- Minimum 12 years experience in commercial leadership, project management, programme management, or cost management.
- Strong background in data centres or similarly complex, mission-critical infrastructure environments.
- Experience working with hyperscale cloud providers, colocation operators, or major data centre investors is highly desirable.
Commercial & Leadership Capability
- Proven track record in P&L ownership, revenue growth, and winning new business.
- Strong commercial judgement with experience managing large project portfolios and senior stakeholders.
Technical Understanding
- Solid understanding of data centre design, construction, and operational requirements (power, cooling, IT infrastructure).
- Awareness of current market and technology trends, including sustainability and AI-driven capacity requirements.
Regional Experience
- Experience working in Indonesia and/or wider ASEAN markets.
- Understanding of local regulations, market conditions, and business practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
- Professional certification (e.g. PMP, CEng, or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Fluent in English; Bahasa Indonesia is a strong advantage.
- Strong leadership presence, commercial acumen, and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel regionally as required.
