Job Description
Ensures that color samples are developed in accordance with customer specifications at the lowest possible cost, while meeting company standards for quality and performance. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and requires little to no day-to-day direction.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and test samples containing pigments, dyes, and additives.
- Conduct color matching and stability testing using spectrophotometers, colorimeters, and visual assessments.
- Evaluate additive performance (e.g., UV stabilizers, antioxidants, slip agents) under various conditions.
- Use instruments like DSC, TGA, FTIR, and UV-Vis to analyze chemical composition and performance.
- Record, interpret, and report test results accurately.
- Maintain detailed documentation in lab systems.
- Identify anomalies and troubleshoot formulation or process issues.
- Assist in scale-up trials and provide feedback on processing behavior (e.g., strand brittleness, dispersion quality).
- Support audits e.g.ISO by maintaining traceable records
- Calibrate and maintain lab instruments.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and ensure operational readiness.
- Follow lab safety protocols and handle chemicals responsibly.
- Support sustainability initiatives, such as biodegradable additives
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors or Masters in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field.
Experience: 25 years in a lab setting, preferably with experience in colorants or additives in plastic industry
Technical Skills: Proficiency in analytical instrumentation, color science, and polymer testing.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork
