Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chiller Maintenance Technician to perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for chiller systems and associated equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safe operation of industrial cooling systems that support manufacturing and utility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine inspection, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance of chillers and cooling systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control system issues related to chillers.
- Conduct repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, cooling towers, expansion valves, and associated components.
- Monitor and analyze operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, and refrigerant performance.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Equipment Reliability
- Ensure chiller systems operate efficiently and reliably to support production requirements.
- Execute condition monitoring activities and recommend improvement actions.
- Assist in reliability improvement programs and energy optimization initiatives.
- Support equipment shutdowns, overhauls, and commissioning activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements, and company regulations.
- Handle refrigerants in accordance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Participate in safety inspections and risk assessments.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and equipment history documentation.
- Maintain accurate spare parts and inventory records.
- Provide technical feedback and recommendations for equipment improvement.
Requirements
Education
- Diploma (D3) or Bachelor's Degree (S1) in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Related Technical Discipline
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in maintenance of industrial chillers, HVAC systems, or refrigeration equipment.
- Experience in manufacturing industries such as Pulp & Paper, Textile, Petrochemical, Power Plant, Food & Beverage, or Utilities is preferred.
- Experience with centrifugal, screw, reciprocating, or absorption chillers is an advantage.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration cycles and chiller operation principles.
- Familiarity with compressors, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID, electrical drawings, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of refrigerants, lubrication systems, and water treatment systems.
- Understanding of PLC, control systems, and instrumentation related to HVAC/chiller systems.
- Experience using CMMS/SAP PM is preferred.
- Ability to perform vibration, temperature, and performance analysis.

- Willingness to work on shifts and respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in HVAC/Refrigeration Systems.
- Refrigerant handling certification.
- Experience with major chiller brands such as Carrier, Trane, York, Daikin, Hitachi, or Mitsubishi.
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance techniques and reliability engineering principles.
