About the Opportunity
The client is a fast-growing data center platform with ambitious expansion plans across Indonesia and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The organization is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the company's technology strategy, digital transformation initiatives, engineering standards, and innovation roadmap while ensuring the delivery of world-class, scalable, and resilient data center infrastructure.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the CTO will play a critical role in driving technology leadership, operational excellence, and long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the company's overall technology vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
- Lead technology innovation initiatives across data center design, operations, automation, AI, sustainability, and digital services.
- Advise executive leadership and board members on emerging technologies, industry trends, and investment priorities.
- Build and maintain a technology organization capable of supporting rapid business expansion.
Data Center Engineering & Infrastructure
- Oversee technical standards for data center design, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Define architecture standards for electrical, mechanical, controls, network, and critical facility systems.
- Ensure facility designs align with global standards for reliability, efficiency, security, and scalability.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies that improve uptime, operational performance, and energy efficiency.
Digital Transformation & Automation
- Develop strategies for data center automation, predictive maintenance, AI-driven monitoring, and digital operations.
- Lead the implementation of DCIM, BMS, EMS, CMMS, and related operational technologies.
- Drive the adoption of advanced analytics and digital platforms to enhance operational decision-making.
- Promote the use of AI and machine learning technologies to optimize asset performance and resource utilization.
Cybersecurity & Technology Risk
- Establish enterprise-wide cybersecurity governance, policies, and risk management frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory, security, and data protection requirements.
- Oversee business continuity, disaster recovery, and technology resilience strategies.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate operational and technology risks.
Sustainability & Innovation
- Drive technology initiatives supporting energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, water conservation, and carbon reduction goals.
- Assess advanced cooling technologies, power management solutions, and emerging sustainability innovations.
- Support corporate ESG objectives through technology-led initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with operations, development, construction, commercial, finance, and investment teams.
- Build strategic partnerships with hyperscalers, cloud providers, technology vendors, utilities, and industry organizations.
- Represent the company with customers, investors, government agencies, and industry forums.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering and technology teams.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Establish succession planning and talent development programs within the technology organization.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Master's degree (MBA, Engineering, Technology Management, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in technology, engineering, digital infrastructure, or mission-critical environments.
- Minimum 5-10 years in a senior leadership role such as CTO, VP Technology, VP Engineering, Head of Technology, or equivalent.
- Strong experience within data centers, hyperscalers, cloud infrastructure providers, telecom operators, colocation platforms, or critical infrastructure organizations.
- Proven track record leading large-scale technology transformation and infrastructure projects.
- Experience managing cross-functional regional or multi-country teams is highly desirable.
Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of data center infrastructure technologies and mission-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of power, cooling, controls, automation, and operational technologies.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, digital platforms, AI, analytics, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Familiarity with Tier III/Tier IV facilities, Uptime Institute standards, and international best practices.
- Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and emerging technologies within the data center industry.
