Chief of Staff

Reports to CEO/Managing Director

Location: Jakarta, Indonesia

Role Type: Full-Time

About Learning Resources

Learning Resources is a leading Indonesia-based consulting firm specializing in Human Capital & Talent Development, Corporate Learning Strategy, Customer Experience Strategy and Research & Insights. We partner with Indonesia's most ambitious companies to transform their human capital and drive sustainable growth through learning and organizational excellence.

Role Overview

The Chief of Staff (CoS) is a high-impact, strategic, and operational role that acts as the right hand to the CEO/Managing Director. You will serve as a force multiplier, ensuring the CEO's vision is translated into actionable business priorities and effectively executed across the consulting practice. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the consulting business model.

I. Key Responsibilities

A. Strategic Planning & Execution (Thought Partner)

  • Strategy Translation: Work directly with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to translate the firm's growth strategy (e.g., expanding into new service lines) into measurable action plans.
  • Performance Management: Design and manage the firm's operating cadence (e.g., weekly Senior Leadership Team meetings, quarterly business reviews, annual planning cycles), ensuring data-driven discussions and clear accountability for strategic initiatives.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct deep-dive research and analysis on market trends and competitive landscape to inform the CEO's strategic decision-making.

B. Operational Excellence & Project Leadership (Operational Glue)

  • Cross-Functional Projects: Lead, manage, and drive to completion high-priority, cross-functional projects that do not fit neatly within existing departmental structures (e.g., launching a new digital platform for proprietary IP, restructuring the internal organization, professionalizing the firm for potential investment).
  • Process Optimization: Identify and implement operational improvements across key functions (Finance, HR, Delivery/Consulting Ops) to improve efficiency, margin, and scalability. This is critical for preparing the firm for Growth Equity.
  • Client Delivery Oversight: Work with the Heads of Practice to monitor the health and profitability of the consulting delivery pipeline, stepping in to resolve organizational bottlenecks or resource conflicts.

C. Executive Support & Communication Liasion (Communicator)

  • Executive Leverage: Manage the CEO's priorities, calendar, and critical workflows, ensuring their time is focused on the highest-value activities (client relationships, strategy, and external relations).
  • Internal Communication: Serve as the primary communication conduit between the CEO and the rest of the firm, drafting and distributing executive communications, board materials, and internal updates to ensure organizational alignment and clarity.
  • Board/Stakeholder/Investor Relations: Assist in the preparation of materials for the Board of Directors, prospective investors, and key external stakeholders, ensuring professional and data-rich communication.

II. Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field. MBA or a degree from a top-tier university is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 6-8 years of experience in a high-performance, analytical environment, with 2+ years spent in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, or a previous Chief of Staff role.
  • Consulting Acumen: Proven ability to understand the consulting business model (utilization, bill rates, margin, client lifecycle, IP development) and translate organizational development principles into operational execution.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to structure complex, ambiguous problems, synthesize data, and present clear, compelling recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Language: Fluency in both English and Bahasa Indonesia (written and verbal) is highly desirable due to the firm's regional focus.

III. Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in a scaling professional services or B2B firm in Southeast Asia.
  • Familiarity with organizational planning frameworks (e.g., OKRs, Balanced Scorecard).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial and budgetary oversight for special projects.
