Job Description

Company Description Suarga Padang Padang is a sustainable boutique resort located along Bali's southern peninsula, in the heart of Indonesia's premier surf breaks. The property features 36 thoughtfully designed rooms, pavilions, and villas, blending modern comfort with minimal environmental impact. A season-driven signature restaurant offers guests captivating ocean views and an immersive culinary experience. The resort caters to rough luxury travelers seeking conscious, socially and environmentally aware stays that celebrate indigenous design. Its exceptional location in Uluwatu provides access to secluded white sand beaches and culturally significant Balinese temples and activities.

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Chief Engineer role based at Suarga Padang Padang in Badung Regency. The Chief Engineer oversees all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations of the resort, ensuring that guest rooms, villas, public areas, and back-of-house facilities are safe, efficient, and well-maintained. Daily responsibilities include planning and supervising preventive and corrective maintenance, managing utilities and energy consumption, and coordinating with contractors and suppliers. The role leads and schedules the engineering team, conducts regular inspections, and responds promptly to technical issues and guest-impacting maintenance requests. The Chief Engineer also ensures compliance with local building, fire, health, and safety regulations, supports sustainability initiatives, and collaborates closely with other departments to maintain high service and operational standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in hotel or resort engineering, including building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical services.
  • Proficiency in maintenance planning, preventive maintenance programs, and use of maintenance management systems or logs.
  • Experience managing utilities and energy efficiency initiatives, ideally within sustainable or eco-focused properties.
  • Proven team leadership skills, including supervising technicians, scheduling shifts, and training team members.
  • Solid understanding of safety, fire protection, and local building regulations, with a commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers for specialized maintenance and projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to respond effectively to urgent technical issues.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills for working with operations, front office, housekeeping, and food & beverage teams.
  • Relevant technical or engineering qualification (e.g., Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field) is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer in a hotel or resort environment is highly desirable.
  • Comfort working on-site in a resort setting and flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as operationally required.
