Position Overview
The
Head of CEO Office & Business Development is a dual-impact, high-visibility role designed for a strategic heavyweight. You will act as the CEO's primary strategic advisor and proxy, while simultaneously leading the group's aggressive business development, M&A, and joint venture (JV) agendas. Given the global nature of the portfolio and critical stakeholder networks,
professional fluency in Mandarin and English is a strict requirement to facilitate high-stakes negotiations and cross-border collaborations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Advisory & Executive Operations (CEO Office)
- Strategic Advisor: Act as a trusted sounding board and strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors, driving long-term corporate planning and investment evaluations.
- Special Projects: Oversee and execute high-impact special projects, strategic initiatives, and task forces on behalf of the CEO, frequently managing confidential, ambiguous, or time-sensitive matters.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Align and coordinate cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, Operations) to ensure the flawless delivery of executive-level priorities.
- Executive Communication: Streamline communication flowing into and out of the CEO's office, preparing board presentations, briefings, and corporate position papers.
2. Business Development, M&A, and Growth
- Deal Structuring & Execution: Lead end-to-end business development initiatives, including Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) assessments, Joint Venture (JV) structuring, and strategic partnerships.
- Market Expansion: Identify, evaluate, and penetrate new geographic markets and asset classes across the global energy and mining sectors.
- Commercial Negotiation: Lead high-stakes commercial negotiations, leveraging language and cultural fluency to secure favorable terms with international partners, state-owned enterprises, and private entities.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
Experience & Background
- Industry Expertise: Minimum of 8–12 years of progressive experience, with a proven track record in Energy, Mining, Commodities, or top-tier Management Consulting / Investment Banking covering these sectors.
- Leadership Value: Demonstrated experience working directly with C-suite executives, boards, or institutional investors.
- Deal Sheet: Proven experience in identifying, structuring, and closing complex commercial deals, M&A, or JVs.
Skills & Competencies
- Language Proficiency: Professional fluency (written and spoken) in Mandarin Chinese and English is MANDATORY. The ability to navigate complex commercial, legal, and financial terms in both languages is critical.
- Financial & Analytical Acumen: Strong capability in financial modeling, valuation, and risk assessment for large-scale capital projects.
- Diplomacy & Influence: Exceptional emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to navigate complex political and corporate landscapes, managing diverse stakeholders seamlessly.
