ABOUT THE ROLE
We believe the combination of senior finance judgment and advanced AI fluency is what finance needs going forward, and we are choosing to build that combination in-house rather than search for a rare, expensive hire who already has both. That is why this role is built for a top-tier early-career professional, not a seasoned finance veteran. You will work in close partnership with the CEO, supported by a Freelance CFO who provides periodic review and strategic finance guidance, giving you senior-level finance judgment on tap while you build. In short, we are not hiring someone who already knows how to run finance the old way. We are hiring someone who can build how finance should run here, with AI as a core part of the process from day one.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Systems Build-Out
- Prepare and help review financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cashflow) across business units
- Build structured, automated financial reporting systems and dashboards to monitor financial performance per entity using AI and other relevant technologies
- Iterate on systems based on real needs from the finance team and other stakeholders
Cashflow, Payments & AP/AR Support
- Help monitor cashflow and monthly payment plans
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable reporting and tracking
- Prepare invoicing, billing reminders, reimbursements, and payment transactions
- Assist with bank, payment gateway, and platform reconciliation
Accounting Operations Support
- Support transaction recording on a weekly, monthly, or periodic basis
- Prepare and review general ledgers and journal entries
- Maintain clean, structured financial documentation with a clear audit trail
SOP & Process Documentation
- Develop practical, lean finance and accounting SOPs, covering AP/AR, payments, reconciliation, and monthly closing
- Document workflows that other team members can use without depending on any one individual
AI-Powered Automation
- Use AI and other relevant technologies to build automation, scripts, and internal tools that speed up finance processes
- Identify manual processes that can be automated and execute end to end
Cross-functional Coordination
- Coordinate with the finance team, BD, and Operations for data needs
- Act as a liaison to the CEO to implement strategic direction
Governance & Internal Control
- Help establish basic internal controls to ensure the accuracy and accountability of financial data
- Ensure every system built has a clear audit trail
REQUIREMENTS
Education
- GPA 3.5+ preferred, in a Finance and Accounting education background
- GPA 3.3 to 3.5 may be considered with strong justification, such as a notoriously rigorous major, outstanding achievements, or a standout portfolio
Experience
- Internship or work experience of up to 2 years at an accounting firm, consulting firm, finance startup, or corporate finance function. Fresh graduates are welcome
Organizational Leadership
- Leadership, coordination, or at minimum initiative ownership experience within a campus organization, committee, community, or other relevant setting, supported by a portfolio or tangible proof of execution
- Able to clearly articulate the concrete impact of that initiative, not just a list of titles
AI & Technical Fluency
- Proficient with Claude Code (or similar AI coding tools) at an advanced level, comfortable building real systems and tools, not just code snippets
- Comfortable in a command-line or technical environment, and continuously learning new tools
- Proficient in advanced spreadsheets. Exposure to SQL or no-code tools is a plus
