Position Overview:
Capital Accounting Manager will oversee capital accounting and fixed asset management within mining operations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate capitalization, asset lifecycle management, project cost control, and compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations. Working closely with finance, project, engineering, and operational teams, the Capital Accounting Manager plays a key role in supporting capital-intensive projects and ensuring financial integrity across asset-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage capital accounting and fixed asset processes across mining operations and project activities.
- Ensure accurate capitalization of project expenditures in accordance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, including asset registration, depreciation, impairment, transfers, retirement, and reconciliation processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, project, and operational teams to validate project costs and asset classification.
- Monitor capital project expenditures and provide financial analysis to support budget control and investment decisions.
- Ensure timely and accurate asset reporting, audit support, and compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Develop and improve asset management procedures, controls, and reporting systems to enhance financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support site visits, asset verification activities, and cross-functional coordination across Head Office and operational locations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in capital accounting, fixed asset accounting, or asset management within mining, oil & gas, EPC, or other capital-intensive industries.
- Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting standards, capitalization processes, and project accounting.
- Experience working closely with engineering, project, or technical operations teams.
- Familiarity with large-scale capital projects and asset lifecycle management.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel frequently to operational sites and work closely with cross-functional stakeholders.
