Business Systems Analyst (Policy Administration System)

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to serve as the critical bridge between the business partners and the technical teams, specifically focusing on the Policy Administration System within the insurance sector. The role involves analyzing business requirements, defining functional specifications, determining solution options, and ensuring the final product aligns with business strategies, coding standards, and testing protocols.
Job Purpose
To collaborate with business partners to provide effective technological solutions aligned with overarching business strategies. This objective is achieved by deeply understanding user needs, analyzing requirements to determine optimal solution options, defining precise functional requirements approved by both business and technical stakeholders, and verifying that these requirements are correctly implemented through design, coding, testing, and the final delivered product.
Major Accountabilities
- Requirements Management & Solution Definition (30%): Determine, analyze, and meticulously document simple to medium-size business requirements from the business community, then coordinate closely with developers to translate these into detailed system specifications to ensure accurate system development.
- System Testing & Quality Assurance (25%): Formulate the test execution strategy, identify all possible test scenarios, and prepare and execute the formal test plan. Conduct the acceptance testing for developed programs to ensure the delivered solution meets the functional requirements before deployment.
- Technical Communication & Issue Resolution (20%): Communicate effectively with developers for clarification of business requirements and provide post-implementation and production support, including the analysis and reporting of simple to medium production problems raised by business users to minimize operational downtime.
- Documentation & Process Improvement (15%): Prepare and maintain documentation for both manual and system procedures in support of business needs, and identify areas for improvement on both manual processes and automated systems being developed and supported to enhance efficiency and maintain high-level knowledge of current technology.
- Knowledge Transfer & Training (10%): Conduct necessary business or functional training for the business community and technical team to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes and maintain a high level of competency across the organization.
Education and Experience
Education:
- College/University Degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of Business Analysis experience.
- Must have solid insurance background or experience working in an insurance company.
- Programming experience is a plus but NOT required.
Required Attributes:
- Must have strong analytical and conceptual skills, alongside good interviewing skills (for data gathering/business requirements preparation).
- Possesses good oral and written communication skills as well as good interpersonal skills; must be very client oriented.
- With high stress tolerance and capable of dealing with all levels of management.
- Willing to work on weekends and holidays if necessary.
