Responsibilities
The Senior Manager Project Management is responsible for providing strategic leadership, governance, and end-to-end oversight for all New Product Development (NPD) and product lifecycle projects under PHG Innovations. This role ensures operational excellence, cross-functional alignment, and timely delivery of PHG's innovation pipeline, which includes high-complexity pharmaceutical projects (BE studies, patent-sensitive products, medical devices, biological products, advanced therapy projects and technology collaborations)
The Senior Manager leads the entire Project Management function, supervises Project Management Managers and Associates, and plays a critical role in strengthening project governance, enabling operational excellence, and providing strategic support to the PHG Innovations Head.
Job Functions
- Strategic Project Leadership & Cross-Functional
- Lead the overall governance and execution of PHG NPD and existing product projects.
- Ensure alignment with PHG Innovations strategic priorities and corporate growth targets.
- Provide high-level problem-solving and risk mitigation across all projects.
- Drive collaboration among R&D, QA/QC, RA, Medical, SCM, Production, Marketing, and Finance.
- Lead steering discussions and escalate issues to ensure timely decisions and project continuity.
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, regulatory timelines, and company standards.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders across the matrix organization.
- Technical Project Oversight & Project Governance
- Oversee BE study strategy, vendor coordination, protocol alignment, and risk management.
- Review and guide patent assessments, IP risk analysis, and regulatory readiness.
- Supervise complex or high-impact projects including technology transfers.
- Establish and enhance project governance frameworks, systems, dashboards, and trackers.
- Ensure adherence to timelines, quality standards, interdependency management, and budget guidance.
- Ensure alignment between Project Management and Portfolio Management on project & product planning.
- Report progress, risks, and escalations to the PHG Innovations Head.
- Launch Readiness
- Oversee full launch preparation across functions to ensure operational, supply, and regulatory readiness.
- Resolve critical launch issues and ensure high-quality execution. Ensure all project documentation and compliance steps are completed before launch.
- People Management
- Lead, develop, and mentor Project Management Managers and Associates, ensuring capability growth and succession readiness.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative Project Management team with strong ownership, accountability, and execution discipline.
- Create a culture of continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and proactive problem-solving.
- Build a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable team.
- Strategic Contribution to PHG Innovations
- Support the PHG Innovations Head by providing high-level project insights, risk forecasts, resource needs, and strategic recommendations.
- Contribute to corporate discussions on new business expansions, new partnership models, and innovation acceleration initiatives.
Requirements
Job Requirements
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (Pharmacist).
- Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including product development and commercialization processes.
- Advanced training/certifications in Project Management (PMP) strongly preferred.
- Experience
- 1015 years in pharmaceutical Project Management, NPD, or technical project leadership.
- Proven experience leading complex, multi-functional projects (BE studies, regulatory, launch readiness).
- Experience supervising managers or multi-level teams in a matrix environment.
- Exposure to technology transfers, or cross-border projects is an advantage.
- Technical & Industry Expertise
- Strong understanding of NPD processes, regulatory pathways, BE study requirements, QA/QC, manufacturing, and patent-related assessments.
- Familiarity with biological products, combination products, technology transfer projects or advanced therapy projects is an advantage
