Business Controller (Indonesia & Malaysia)

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the finance business partner for operations in Indonesia and Malaysia.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting activities.
  • Manage Percentage of Completion (POC) accounting, including revenue recognition, cost-to-complete reviews, and contract margin analysis
  • Monitor project financial performance, profitability, cash flow, backlog, and key business KPIs.
  • Review project forecasts and work closely with Project Managers to identify financial risks and opportunities.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Prepare financial analysis and business insights for regional and local management teams.
  • Drive process improvements, financial controls, and governance across Indonesia and Malaysia.
  • Manage project administration, including PR/PO processing, JDE project setup, budget maintenance, vendor/customer creation, billing, unbilled monitoring, and project-related business support.

  • Act as the key liaison between local operations and APAC finance leadership.
  • Support the project in bidding process

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA/CA/CIMA preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in Business Controlling, Project Controlling, FP&A, or Commercial Finance.
  • Strong experience with POC accounting and project-based revenue recognition.
  • Hands-on experience with JD Edwards (JDE), including project accounting, financial reporting, and forecasting.
  • Experience using OneStream for consolidation, planning, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and business partnering skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets.
  • Experience supporting multi-country operations, preferably across Southeast Asia.
  • Ability to partner effectively with operational, commercial, and project management teams.
  • Experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, technology, or project-based businesses.

Knowledge of Indonesia and Malaysia statutory, tax, and financial reporting requirements.
