Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple indirect tax engagements, including advisory, compliance, and planning projects for clients across various sectors (e.g., financial services, TMT, industrial and manufacturing, consumer markets, life sciences, etc.).
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building and maintaining strong client relationships, understanding their business needs, and delivering tailored indirect tax solutions.
- Stay up to date with the latest tax laws, regulations, and market developments - including but not limited to indirect aspects; proactively assess their impact on clients businesses and provide strategic advice.
- Assist clients in discussions and negotiations with tax authorities and other government bodies, supporting them in audits, disputes, and controversy matters.
- Work and interact with multidisciplinary teams
- Identify business opportunities and participate in the development, marketing and implementation of tax services
- Ensure compliance with internal risk management policies and external regulatory requirements, and assist in achieving the team's financial and operational targets.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and actively share knowledge within the team.
Experience & Background
- Minimum of five years experience in a professional service environment with tax experience.
- Extensive experience in tax advisory, tax compliance and project management, with exposure to a broad range of industries.
- Experience in working in tax authorities is highly desirable.
- Ability to think strategically and analyze complex business transactions to identify key issues / risks.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to make clear recommendations based on a sound assessment of the advice and information gathered.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex issues clearly to non-experts.
- Ability to work cross functionally and cross culturally.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA, CTA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
- Strong presentation skills, with an excellent command of verbal and written English and Chinese.
