Our holding company, ID&E Holdings Co., Ltd. (ID&E), was officially established on 3 July 2023. The Consulting Business, Urban & Spatial Development Business, and Energy Business, which were previously the business divisions of Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as NK) which is Japan's No.1 International Engineering Consultants in terms of size and turnover for consulting services, became independent as separate corporate organizations. Among these, Nippon Koei Energy Solutions Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as NKES) commenced its operations on 1 October 2023, drawing on the foundations of NK's DNA, the energy management, manufacturing, construction & installation, and electro-mechanical consulting fields have been retained; and we continue to provide one-stop services pertaining to energy.

Work Environment

We are looking for a Battery Energy Storage System Expert (BESS) to support efficiently the expansion of our services in APAC. You will lead and oversee the engineering and technical aspects of battery energy storage system projects. This role is accountable for the review of project plans and specifications for design accuracy, constructability, conformance to regulatory agency requirements and productivity improvement. You will evolve in an international environment and work in close coordination with other teams throughout the company in order to deliver projects at the highest quality standards.

Missions

  • You will report to the Product Manager.
  • Prepares or assists in the conceptual sizing of BESS and supports project reporting.
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, procedures, and criteria to prepare/review conceptual studies, design criteria and specifications, sizing calculations, and layout engineering of BESS and its relation to other generation and/or transmission equipment.
  • Coordinates internal project engineering efforts with other engineering disciplines.
  • Provides technical assistance and interacts with project stakeholders, including customers, EPC contractors, and vendors.
  • Assists the project execution team in identifying and complying with agreed project standards and requirements, specifically for BESS, by reviewing designs, construction methods, quality plans/procedures, commissioning procedures, and test results.
  • Battery and inverter sizing and analysis.
  • Develop expertise in the central aspects and characteristics of current battery technologies, linking them to battery parameters.
  • Conduct techno-commercial analyses of various energy storage technologies.
  • Perform BESS modeling in system studies for renewable energy systems integrating BESS.
  • Oversee and review technical documents provided by vendors.
  • Provide technical support for the deployment of BESS solutions.
  • Contribute to engineering work planning and control methods.
  • Ensure alignment with construction practices and economic considerations.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) engineering or a related field.
  • Electrical design and optimization of battery-based energy storage systems.
  • Previous experience as a PMC (Project Management Consultant)is desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering practices, construction economics, and leadership skills.
  • Solid communication skills in English and Bahasa.
  • This position is based in Rempang Island, Indonesia.
