Job Description
Company Overview:
Our client is a fast-growing mobility technology enterprise building cloud-native infrastructure for the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Operating distributed, real-time, and event-driven architectures, they are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to support the expansion, optimization, and operational stability of their core EV Charging platform. In this contract role, you will work independently on backend services, optimize database operations, troubleshoot live production issues, and collaborate closely with technical leads and DevOps teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Backend & API Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices and RESTful APIs using Golang.
- Event-Driven Workflows: Develop and maintain asynchronous, event-driven workflows and real-time data streaming pipelines.
- Production Debugging & Support: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve live production issues promptly to ensure high system availability.
- Database Management: Write complex SQL, optimize database queries, manage indexing strategies, and maintain PostgreSQL data layer performance.
- Cloud & DevOps Collaboration: Partner with DevOps engineering teams to manage containerized deployments, cloud environments, and application monitoring.
- Code Quality & Technical Governance: Participate in code reviews, contribute to technical discussions, and ensure code maintainability and operational readiness.
Requirements:
- Core Language Stack: Solid hands-on experience developing production-grade microservices and backend systems in Golang.
- Architecture & API Design: Proven background designing RESTful APIs, distributed microservices, concurrent operations, and asynchronous processing.
- Databases & Streaming: Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL (or similar RDBMS) paired with experience handling event-streaming systems like Apache Kafka.
- Cloud & Containerization: Practical experience with cloud-native deployments (AWS or Azure), Docker, and Kubernetes orchestration.
- High-Traffic Debugging: Proven capability in isolating, debugging, and resolving performance bottlenecks and outages in distributed/high-traffic systems.
- Independent Execution: Ability to take ownership of technical features and deliver reliable code independently within a distributed environment.
Nice-to-Have:
- Prior exposure to EV charging networks, mobility solutions, IoT platforms, or hardware-integrated architectures.
- Familiarity with domain protocols such as OCPP and OCPI.
- Hands-on experience with observability tools (Datadog, Sentry) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
- Beginner-to-intermediate knowledge of Java.
