Role Description

Gamma Metrics Asia is seeking a Project-Based Associate Researcher to support a Total Economic Valuation (TEV) project. The position is based in Bandung and requires regular on-site collaboration with the project team.

The Associate Researcher will support the overall research process, including literature review, data collection, field activities, data processing, economic and environmental analysis, stakeholder coordination, and preparation of project deliverables.

The role will involve working with multidisciplinary data related to environmental resources, ecosystem services, socio-economic conditions, and economic valuation. The researcher will also participate in field data collection and project coordination activities in Bandung and other project locations as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of the Total Economic Valuation (TEV) study and related analytical frameworks.
• Conduct literature reviews and collect relevant environmental, economic, social, and policy data.
• Support primary data collection through surveys, interviews, field observations, and stakeholder consultations.
• Clean, organize, process, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
• Assist in the application of relevant economic and environmental valuation approaches.
• Prepare analytical tables, charts, maps, presentations, and other research materials.
• Contribute to research reports, technical documents, and presentation materials.
• Coordinate with project team members, stakeholders, and relevant institutions during project implementation.
• Participate in fieldwork and project coordination activities in Bandung and other locations outside Bandung when required.
• Maintain clear documentation of research data, sources, assumptions, and analytical processes.
• Work collaboratively with the project team while also being able to independently manage assigned research tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree (S1/S2) in Biology, Economics, Environmental Science, Environmental Economics, Public Policy, Industrial Engineering, or other relevant disciplines.
• Strong interest in environmental economics, ecosystem services, natural resource management, sustainability, or economic valuation.
• Comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data.
• Familiar with data processing using spreadsheets and other analytical tools; experience with statistical or spatial analysis software is an advantage.
• Able to prepare clear, structured, and professional presentations and research outputs.
• Familiarity with research methods including literature review, surveys, interviews, and field data collection.
• Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Willing and able to work offline/on-site in Bandung.
• Willing to participate in field data collection and project activities outside Bandung when required.
• Previous experience in environmental research, economic valuation, sustainability studies, or consulting projects is an advantage.
