Job Overview:

The Architectural Superintendent role requires a strong understanding of architectural construction activities, workforce supervision, project execution, and resource planning. The position is responsible for coordinating architectural works, managing installation schedules, optimizing the use of labor, materials, and equipment, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards. The role works closely with project teams, clients, and fabrication teams to support quality, productivity, cost control, and schedule performance.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure team members submit accurate daily time entries in the MyTime system, and follow up with the appropriate approval chain to confirm timely review and approval
  • Manage day-to-day architectural work activities, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable procedures
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, housekeeping requirements, and the Code of Business Conduct
  • Review and understand the scope of work, schedule requirements, resource needs, and key deliverables for assigned architectural activities
  • Develop and maintain installation schedules, ensuring alignment with overall project timelines and resource availability
  • Coordinate the effective use of labor, materials, and equipment to support productivity, cost efficiency, and timely work completion
  • Delegate work clearly to team members, defining scope, schedule, deliverables, and performance expectations
  • Provide leadership, direction, and sound decision-making to support safe and efficient execution of architectural works
  • Monitor work progress, productivity, quality, and schedule performance, and take corrective action when required
  • Coordinate with project managers, trade superintendents, fabrication teams, and other stakeholders to support integrated work planning and execution
  • Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and other departments to address inquiries, resolve issues, and support project objectives
  • Manage and control departmental budgets, ensuring responsible use of resources and alignment with cost objectives
  • Ensure employees are appropriately trained, qualified, and competent to perform assigned work safely and effectively
  • Promote Health, Safety, Environment, and Security standards and ensure work activities follow applicable safety policies, procedures, and work practices
  • Conduct periodic audits and inspections to verify compliance with procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards
  • Review work practices and recommend improvements to operating procedures, work instructions, productivity, safety, and quality performance
  • Support a work environment that promotes accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and respect
  • Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum Senior High School graduate required. A diploma or degree in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in architectural works, marine joinery, or related construction supervision is required
  • Strong knowledge of architectural installation methods, construction sequencing, materials, tools, and equipment is required
  • Experience supervising teams in a construction, fabrication, or project execution environment is required
  • Ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, work packages, schedules, and procedures is required
  • Strong leadership, planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills are required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, project stakeholders, clients, and other departments is required
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, and cost control practices is required
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to safety, quality, and schedule requirements is required
