Discovering the role
Tax & GL Accountant based in Indonesia to manage full sets of accounts for the Indonesia entity and ensure compliance with all local tax obligations. This position is equally focused on accounting (50%) and tax compliance (50%), making it a well-rounded finance role.
The role will report directly to the Regional Finance Manager based in Singapore, working closely with the regional finance team, external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end accounting for the Indonesia entity, including GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, and cash/bank transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with Indonesian GAAP (PSAK) and company policies.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments.
- Maintain accurate balance sheet and P&L schedules with proper supporting documentation.
- Prepare statutory financial statements for local filing and audit purposes.
- Support internal and external audits, preparing reconciliations and audit schedules as needed.
- Support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activities on an ad hoc basis, by reviewing financial statements of prospective companies and providing insights to the Regional Finance Manager for SEA
- Prepare and file monthly tax returns (VAT, Withholding Tax, Employee Income Tax, etc.) in compliance with Indonesian regulations
- Coordinate with external tax agents for the preparation and filing for Corporate Income tax (CIT)
- Ensure accurate calculation of tax liabilities and timely remittance to DJP.
- Reconcile tax accounts with the GL to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor and assess changes in Indonesian tax regulations, ensuring timely compliance.
- Handle tax audits, inspections, and queries from authorities, liaising with external advisors when necessary.
- Provide tax input on local business transactions to ensure compliance.
- Coordinate with the Regional Finance Manager in Singapore for consolidation, reporting, and alignment with group policies.
- Liaise with external tax consultants, auditors, and regulators on statutory matters.
- Support process improvements and contribute to finance standardization initiatives across SEA entities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or tax related field.
- 3–5 years of experience handling full sets of accounts and tax compliance in Indonesia.
- Strong knowledge of Indonesian tax regulations (VAT, CIT, WHT, employee taxes).
- Experience with PSAK; knowledge of IFRS is an advantage.
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems ( Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- Experience in Merger and Acquisition is a plus, but not required
- Familiarity with Power BI, Power Query and Power Automate is an advantage
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently while meeting tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
