Position: Absorption Chiller Technician

Department: Utility / Power Plant

Location: Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of absorption chiller systems and related equipment.
• Conduct inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of absorption chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, valves, piping, and associated equipment.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify abnormalities such as vacuum loss, abnormal temperature/pressure, leakage, vibration, corrosion, and reduced cooling performance.
• Maintain and troubleshoot LiBr absorption chiller systems, including LiBr solution circulation and refrigerant-related systems.
• Perform equipment overhaul, cleaning, tube inspection, and replacement of defective components as required.
• Check and maintain mechanical components such as pumps, bearings, seals, valves, couplings, motors, and heat exchanger components.
• Support chiller commissioning, start-up, shutdown, and performance testing after maintenance activities.
• Analyze equipment problems and perform root cause analysis to prevent recurring failures.
• Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and equipment history.
• Coordinate with Operations, Electrical, Instrumentation, and other Maintenance teams to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with SOP, safety procedures, LOTO, work permits, and environmental requirements.
• Support shutdown/turnaround activities and major maintenance projects.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and ensure the work area complies with plant safety standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement and energy-efficiency initiatives related to the chiller system.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma (D3) / SMK in Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in maintenance of chillers, refrigeration systems, HVAC, utility equipment, or similar process industry equipment.
• Hands-on experience with absorption chiller, particularly LiBr absorption chiller, is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, refrigeration systems, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and piping.
• Able to perform troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment.
• Able to read and understand P&ID, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of vacuum systems, cooling water systems, steam/hot water systems, and chilled water systems.
• Familiar with preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Familiar with LOTO, work permits, PPE, and HSE requirements.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Willing to work on a shift basis/on-call when required.
• Willing to be based in Pangkalan Kerinci, Pelalawan, Riau.
